Zwischen Hochbeeten, Kompostklos und Bokashi Eimern entstehen Räume für Begegnung und gemeinsames Lernen mit dem Boden. Das Kompost Festival bewegt sich an der Schnittstelle von Ökologie, Kunst, Wissenschaft und bodenständiger Praxis. Dabei geht es um ein offenes Erkunden: um Aufmerksamkeit, Austausch und fürsorglichen Beziehungen zwischen Mensch und Boden. Kompost als Kunst der lebendigen Transformation – als Prozess, der verbindet, auflöst und neu zusammensetzt. Kompost Festival findet statt in und zwischen Prinzessinnengärten, Allmende-Kontor, Floating University, Feld Food Forest, Solid StadtLandLaden, Spore Garten und Späth’schen Baumschulen. Schaut vorbei und helft mit, die großen Haufen zu Humus zu machen. Dabei lernen wir eine neue Kompostiermethode aus Kolumbien kennen, denn wir bauen gemeinsam eine paca digestora. Finden wir es heraus, Hände in die Erde! 16:00 – 19:00 Bodenfeuchte Sensorik-Workshop (Daniel Diehl / Wassermeisterei) Wir basteln gemeinsam Sensoren und installieren eine Messstation, um Bodenfeuchte in Garten, Wiese oder Wald zu messen und die Daten in die digitale Wasserkarte einzuspeisen. 16:30 – 19:30 Miso, Microbes & Magic Soil (Ayumi Matsuzaka / Dycle) Join us for a delicious Terra Preta workshop: we’ll cook miso soup together using a small pyrolysis oven while making biochar at the same time. We’ll prepare fermented vegetable-crops for composting, which will slowly transform into rich Terra Preta soil substrate. A fun and tasty hands-on experience about food, microbes, and living soil. Please bring your kitchen waste + a bowl & spoon for the soup! 17:00 – 18:30 Rundgang zu Bodengesundheit (Nora Lena Meyer) Welche Methoden werden im Allmende-Kontor zur Förderung der Bodengesundheit eingesetzt? Bei einem gemeinsamen Rundgang lernen wir verschiedene Mulchmaterialien, Gründüngungspflanzen und Jaucherezepte kennen. 17:30 – 19:00 Open Soil research (mikroBIOMIK, Open Agroecology Lab) Ein offenes Drop-In mit Mikroskopen, Open-Source-Bodentests und einer Untergrund- Hörstation. With: Soil Painting – Malen mit Erdfarben (Schönfärberinnen) Pigmente aus Erden, Gesteinen und Kohle sind die ältesten Farben. Doch welche Farbe hat der Boden unter unseren Füßen? Gemeinsam werden wir Farben aus mineralischen Pigmenten gewinnen und mit verschiedenen Bindemitteln experimentieren. Meet your microbiome – Mikroben-Tattoo-Workshop (Ella v.d. Haide / quEErEcologiEscollEctivE) Gegenseitig zeichnen wir uns (abwaschbare) Tattoos als verkörperte Symbole unserer liebevollen Symbiose mit Bakterien, Pilzen, Archaeen und Springschwänzen auf die Haut. Wir tauschen uns aus über unsere Erfahrungen als Mikroben-Liebhaber*innen und unsere Lebensaufgabe als Mikroben Habitate. Compost Credos – Poetry & Bokashi Workshop (Cleo Wächter) Words hold up our world. The way we speak about our world ends up shaping it. What happens when they wilt and wither? In this poetry workshop, we will compost words and thoughts. Can meanings be broken down over time, digested, and transformed? Tiny beings eating away at them. Compost Tasting & Conversation – Lessons from the Heap (masharu, Naida Culshaw) An ongoing participatory installation and round-table tasting of earth and compost, offered at participants’ own risk. Through tasting, conversation, and shared reflection, we ask what compost can teach when it moves from metaphor toward mouth, body, microbes, safety, disgust, and desire. Fluid Dictionary – Composting Capitalism (Ivana Papić, Nika Grigorian) We will play a card game! Drawing on feminist and decolonial perspectives and inspired by our local ecologies and situated knowledges, we will co-create a living glossary that challenges static Western epistemologies shaped by capitalist and patriarchal structures. The words that emerge through play will be composted in the garden. |

Amid raised beds, compost toilets, and bokashi buckets, spaces emerge for connection and learning together with the soil. The Compost Festival operates at the intersection of ecology, art, science, and down-to-earth practice. It is about open exploration: about attention, exchange, and caring relationships between people and the soil. Compost as the art of living transformation—as a process that connects, breaks down, and reassembles.
